Ellen DeGeneres Has Moved to Great Britain, Lists Montecito Estate: ‘Never Coming Back’ to the United States | Exclusive
Telling friends the election of Donald Trump was their main inspiration; Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have moved to rural England, put their Montecito estate on the market, and intend not to return to the United States.
DeGeneres has been honest about being "kicked out of show business" following claims of toxic workplace conduct at the syndicated "Ellen" show in 2022, even if the incoming Republican government was the alleged reason. A fresh start cannot harm.
DeGeneres has already relocated to the bucolic Cotswolds in southern-central England, the individual said, adding that her Montecito estate, around 90 minutes north of Los Angeles, has been pocket-listed or will soon be listed. Wednesday's request for comments was not immediately answered by a spokesperson for Riskin Partners, the esteemed real estate firm she retains.
DeGeneres apparently purchased the expansive Montecito estate in 2019; she and de Rossi have made it their main house; it was unclear what would happen to her other Southern California residences. Since her comedy show and tour are over, a former DeGeneres spokesman says she is no longer representing the comedian.
Recently, DeGeneres debuted "Four Your Approval," a stand-up performance she developed with Netflix. She detailed in it how she was spending her time following "Ellen," aside from the comedy special itself, none of which connected to show business.
"I resolved to start gardening," DeGeneres added. "I acquired chickens." Allow me to further share with you what else I know about the current events. Oh sure, I left show industry early. Indeed, the "be nice" girl lacked compassion. That was the headline.
She then asked aloud whether she ought to have established different expectations.
"Had I ended my show by saying, 'Go f–k yourselves,' people would have been pleasantly surprised to find out I'm kind," the comic said jokingly.
